LangeTwins Family Vineyard Field Day Biodiversity to Optimize Production

The event will feature talks and demonstrations at four different stations on the vineyard. Attendees will hear from an array of speakers, including:
- Jo Ann Baumgartner (Wild Farm Alliance) on how native habitats can enhance pest control through natural enemy insects and birds.
- Nick Filannino (Wild Farm Alliance) and Sam Earnshaw (Hedgerows Unlimited) on the Pollinator Habitat Program, featuring a newly planted hedgerow funded by CDFA.
- Michael Dunn and apprentice Sophia Carte (PJ Dunn Working Red Worms) on vermiculture’s benefits, with a live demonstration on brewing compost tea.
- Breanna Martinico (UC Cooperative Extension) on using nestboxes to attract birds for pest management.
- Maria Zumkeller (Lange Farming) on regenerative vineyard practices and their practical applications.
- Stephanie Bolton (Lodi Woodbridge) on LODI RULES, California’s sustainable viticulture program.
Additionally, a farmer and manager panel will share experiences in establishing beneficial natural habitats for pest control. Attendees will have opportunities to engage with speakers and explore these topics firsthand.
During lunch, a short award ceremony will recognize LangeTwins Winery for their California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance 2024 California Green Medal Leader Award.
Continuing Education Credits: We are offering 1.5 CE credits through the California Department of Pesticide Regulation for this event. Please bring your license number with you to receive a certificate of completion at the end of the event. We have also been approved for 2.5 CCA credits (Nutrient Management CEUs: 0.5, Integrated Pest Management CEUs: 1, Sustainability CEUs: 1).
